6 Bars To Check Out At Singapore Cocktail Festival 2017 Food Notes

Time to get sloshed! 

Remember Singapore Cocktail Week, the annual celebration where the best bars in Singapore jostled to bring you new and inventive cocktails? Now imagine all these bars packed under one roof, with international bartending superstars from the Asia’s and World’s 50 Best Bars lists getting in on all the action!

Welcome to Singapore Cocktail Festival 2017.

The week-long festivities includes a slew of exciting bar tours and workshops you can participate in (scroll down for details on how you can win tickets to one of these exclusive workshops).

But first, here are six bars we think you should absolutely check out at Singapore Cocktail Festival:

1. Native

 

Fancy having an insect-based cocktail? The Antz cocktail ($23++) is a blend of foraged local Weaver ants, soursop, homemade coconut yoghurt, salt baked tapioca, and Chalong Bay rum; topped with a house-made basil meringue, on a basil leaf, sprinkled with imported Thai ants (flash frozen with liquid nitrogen). The unexpected use of tapioca gives the drink a body and texture, while the local Weaver ants (containing ascorbic acid) lend a sour, almost citric flavour to round up the taste. Complemented with the sharp taste of basil, the Antz cocktail is an electrifying drink!

2. Atlas

The spanking new Atlas will be serving up an Atlas Martini, which includes London Dry Gin, Ambrato Vermouth, Orange Bitters, and Champagne, as well as the GinTonica (American Gin, Grapefruit, Juniper, and Grapefruit Tonic Water) for Singapore Cocktail Festival. Both of the cocktails will be priced at $16++.

3. Redtail

Look out for “Muah Chee”, which is a locally inspired cocktail prepared with Bacardi Carta Blanca, toasted sesame syrup, rice water, fresh lemon juice, and egg white. This Red Tail signature is available at $15 nett. 

4. The Wall

 

Whisky aficionados, you’ve gotta try the whisky-based cocktails from The Wall. Signature creations such as Pop My Cherry will be prepared using The Naked Grouse Tiger’s Eye Whisky, which is exclusively available at The Wall. All cocktails are priced at $16++.

5. Fat Prince

Fat Prince will be offering a mouthwatering selection of five cocktails including the exotic Zaatar Quack, prepared with Duck Fat Washed Napue Gin, watermelon shrub, and extra virgin olive oil. Each cocktail is priced at $14++.

6. Crackerjack

After a week of hard drinking, you’ll probably need an antidote for your -ahem- adult headache. Crackerjack will be serving up a “Recovery Breakfast” menu designed to get festival-goers back on their feet. Choose between a “naughty” (chilaquiles and a mezcal bloody mary) or “nice” (bone broth with barley and kale and a green superfood shake) breakfast, with a choice of coffee and a hangover prevention pack. Each breakfast set is priced at $16++ and is available for order from 8am to 12noon from 16 to 22 March, 2017.

Singapore Cocktail Festival will be held from 16 to 19 March 2017; 4pm to 10pm on Thursday and Friday, and 12noon to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday at 99 Beach Road (next to Shaw Towers). The festival village features 9 cocktail rooms, a food street, and a music stage. Entry to the festival village is free.

If you’ve ever wanted to create your own cocktails to wow party guests, here’s your chance. Monkey 47 Dry Gin will be presenting easy ways to prep and serve cocktails while Chef Tim of Pyxiemoss will share the perfect approach to complementing the drinks with homemade canapes.
