White Rose Cafe brings back a familiar tradition … with one new addition!
It’s been 30 years since York Hotel first started gathering hawker fare from the streets of Penang and bringing it to Singaporeans in one delectable buffet spread . Three decades later, the Penang Hawkers’ Fare continues to be a resounding success, with queues often forming as early as an hour before the buffet starts. And why not?
This is where you get to indulge in all your favourite (and authentic) Penang street food, from assam laksa and char kway teow to chendol and ban chang kueh. Remember to look out for the new kid on the block – Penang Curry Mee. Unlike our Singaporean version, which is thicker and richer, this popular Penang dish comes with yellow noodles and rice vermicelli served in a clear coconut broth. The spicy kick comes from a dollop of chilli paste heaped onto ingredients like tau pok, cockles, prawns, and sliced cuttlefish. Super yummy!
As part of their 30th anniversary celebration, White Rose Cafe is also organising a Tikam Fun Dip and Lucky Draw, where diners get to win dining vouchers and free accommodation at York Hotel. Eight pairs of patrons will also get to win a 3D2N trip to Penang, where Executive Chef Charlie Tham will take you to try (even more) awesome Penang street food!
Penang Hawkers’ Fare is available daily during lunch (12pm to 2.30pm) and dinner (6.30pm to 10pm) from now till 2 January 2017 at White Rose Cafe (21 Mount Elizabeth, York Hotel).
