10 Cool Things To Do In Boracay The Great Escape

Technically, you could choose to lay on the beach all day, but why would you when there’s so much to see and do when you’re in Boracay? Here are 10 things to do for the ultimate action-packed holiday! By Jason Lee

1. Cliff Diving at Ariel’s Point

A photo posted by Ariel's Point (@arielspoint) on

One of the top cliff diving spots in the world, you can choose from one of five platforms to dive off. The highest one is 13 to 15m high – only true adrenaline junkies need apply! Be sure to set aside a full day for this as there are many other activities included in the day trip package, such as Aa boat cruise, BBQ buffet lunch, afternoon snacks, unlimited beverages (including beers and mixed drinks), cliff diving, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and snorkelling.

2. Stroll along Puka beach

For those who want to escape the crowds on the main beach, this is the perfect “getaway”. Puka beach is a wonderfully tranquil location, and a great spot to watch a quiet sunset with your loved one. Obviously, I have a soft spot for Puka … one of the scents I created for my artisanal fragrance brand SIX was inspired by it!

3. Go paraw sailing on the main beach during sunset

The paraw boat is arguably a signature of Boracay. Powered totally by wind, these boats cruise at a comfortable speed of around 30km/h. Watching the sunset on the boat is definitely something you should make time for.

4. Whiz through the trees on a zipline

While lots of tourist spots offer ziplining experiences, this is still an activity worth doing at Boracay because you get an amazing view of the sandy white beaches.

5. Sign up for a class at Mermaid Swimming Academy

Make those dreams of being a mermaid (or merman) come true at this swimming school. Not only is it fun way to pack fitness into your holiday, it’s also a great opportunity to get some good shots for your Instagram!

6. Enjoy a shake at Jonah’s Fruit Shake

I’ll go out on a limb and say that Jonah’s has some of the best fruit shakes you’ll ever have in your life. My favourite is the mango shake, but there are over 46 flavours to choose from, so you can enjoy a different one every day of your trip.

7.  Go shopping at Talipapa Market

Ready to put those bargaining skills to the test? Then make a beeline for Talipapa Market, where you can take your pick of super fresh seafood and have it cooked on the spot. Dining here is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

8. Eat up a storm
Enjoy Pinoy cuisine at Mesa, authentic Spanish food at Dos Mestizos, and delicious pasta at Aria. If I had to choose just one restaurant to try, however, it’d be the Greek eatery Cyma. This is one of the best places to get Greek food in the Philippines, and its first outlet opened right here in Boracay. Order the decadent appetiser burnt cheese to share before taking your pick of hearty main courses. Best part? Dining here won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

9. Do shots at Cocomangas

Only for the brave: Down 15 assorted shots, and if you’re still standing at the end of it, your name will be engraved on the bar’s wall of fame! While this is a must-do for many first-timers to Boracay, I’d recommend only doing it if you have days to spare because, chances are, you’ll be nursing a hell of a hangover after that …

10. Party at Laboracay

Laboracay is a rave party held on Labour Day, and I believe it’s one of the biggest parties in the Philippines every year. The country’s best DJs will make their way here to spin their own brand of party music, and it’s a great chance for you to rub shoulders with the locals as many college students will flock here for spring break.
