7 Reasons You Won’t Want to Leave PARKROYAL On Pickering After Checking In The Great Escape

No time for a vacay? No problem. A night at PARKROYAL on Pickering is all you need to recharge and reconnect with your loved one. Here are a few reasons why we are simply enamoured with this hotel

1. This huge yet cosy room filled with natural light

We stayed in an Orchid Club Deluxe Room and loved just how spacious it was. From the water feature outside the room, to the high ceilings and complimentary minibar (alcoholic drinks not included), no effort is spared to ensure that guests feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment they check in.

2. This gorgeous bathroom

When you go for a staycation at PARKROYAL on Pickering, be sure to bring along your Kindle and those Lush bath bombs … because that bathtub is just calling out to you to soak in it for hours. And if you’re concerned about privacy, not to worry – there’s a sliding door that separates the bedroom from the bathroom.

3. Exclusive Orchid Club privileges

My husband and I looking way too happy after our second glass of wine …

If you’re planning on a relaxing staycation with absolutely nothing on the agenda, it’s worthwhile to pay a little more for a room on an Orchid Club floor. This will give you access to a whole host of privileges, including access to the Orchid Club Lounge and Terrace on Level 16 from 6.30am to 11pm every day. You’ll get to enjoy: (1) All-day refreshments (non-alcoholic) (2) Champagne breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am (3) Afternoon tea from 2pm – 4pm (4) Evening cocktails from 6pm – 8pm (inclusive of beers, wines, and classic cocktails, and small bites). That means, essentially, that you can spend all day at the Orchid Club Lounge if you so wish! This is in addition to a whole host of other perks including complimentary late checkout at 2pm (subject to availability) and two pieces of laundry per room, per day. See what we mean when we say you don’t have to leave the hotel?

4. You won’t be able to stop admiring its gorgeous design

Most hotels can hardly call themselves environmentally friendly, but PARKROYAL on Pickering, perhaps, comes closest to it with its “garden in a hotel” concept. Combining both form and function,  high performance glass helps cut out solar heat while providing natural daylight to stream in, while lush greenery keeps west-facing walls cool, reducing energy consumption for cooling guest rooms. I also appreciated the fact that there were separate recycling bins for plastic, glass, and paper in the rooms and throughout the hotel.

Various types of plants, ferns and trees not only give the hotel’s landscape a soothing effect, but were also carefully chosen for their ability to absorb heat, minimise potential pest effects, and address varying light and wind conditions on all sides of the building.

5. This amazing pool and well-equipped gym

If roasting in the sun for hours isn’t how you’d like to spend a weekend afternoon, you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of shady spots on the deck so you can still clock pool time. Just check out these absolutely brilliant “lounge nests” (my term) that you can see from the road.

6. Spa-tacular Treats at St Gregory Spa #treatyoself

We get it, you desperately KNEAD a break. And you’ll get one at the hotel’s St Gregory Spa. Whether you prefer a relaxing Balinese massage, or an invigorating Tui Na massage, there’ll be something on the menu to soothe those tired, work-worn muscles. Oh, and even if you’re not staying at the hotel, but wish to book yourself in for a treatment at St Gregory Spa, you’ll also be granted access to the pool and the gym!

7. Food, glorious food at Lime

If, for some reason, you’re still hungry despite spending all day snacking at the Orchid Club Lounge, then make a beeline for Lime, PARKROYAL on Pickering’s signature restaurant. From December 2, 2016 to January 2, 2017, tuck into their Festive Buffet – available for both lunch and dinner – where, for $88, you can enjoy seafood such as Tiger prawns and Alaskan king crab legs, as well as roasted wagyu beef with red wine jus AND have free flowing Mumm Cordon Rouge thrown in!

She may have been born and bred in Singapore, but Denise considers Chiang Mai her spiritual home and needs to make a yearly pilgrimage there to maintain her sanity. Competitive by nature, she enjoys combat sports and is currently obsessed with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which she picked up just under a year ago. To no one’s surprise, the country currently at the top of her travel bucket list is Brazil.
