This chalet is perfect for anyone who wants some privacy on their winter getaway, while still remaining a close distance to many amenities. Located in the heart of Rusutsu village, the ski and adventure hub of Hokkaido, Sakura chalet is minutes away from ski lifts and winter activities, numerous restaurants, as well as hot springs (onsen). Curl up by the fireplace on snowy nights, as you take in the mountain views from your bedroom, or the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room.

This 200 year-old barn-turned-chalet is perched on a slope below the quaint village of Eison La Crettaz, facing a stunning view of the Valais Mountains. Don’t be deceived by its old appearance; this barn is full of modern amenities (even a Nespresso machine), and the old look on the outside was preserved for monument conservation. You will have easy access to four skiing areas nearby, as well as 85km of snowshoe walking trails, and many other winter activities.

This Kokage house is an original concrete house located in Hirafu, and designed by a renowed Japanese architect. Features of the house include bespoke furniture, wooden ceilings, and a deep Japanese bath. This place is short walk away from skiing facilities and hot springs, as well as a range of good food, from home-style eateries, to Michelin-starred restaurants.
5. Charming Chalet (Portes Du Soleil)
Val d’Illiez, Valais, Switzerland
This charming rustic chalet is made completely out of wood, and looks like something out of an old movie. Located in the village of Val d’illiez in Switzerland, you will be a short distance from one of the largest skiable domains in Switzerland (650km of slopes), and a few minutes away from the thermal bath in the village for a good soak after hitting the slopes.
6. Residenz Märchenblick
Leutasch, Tirol, Austria
For a quiet and snowy winter in a small town, look no further than this villa. Located in the northern part of the district Innsbruck-Land in Austria, this hideaway is perfect for an escape away from the city. This area abounds with cross-country skiing trails too.
