A Fantastic New Reason To Arrive Early For Your Flight Buy Buy Buy

Because the best way to prepare for a long-haul flight is with a pampering facial.

If you’re anything like me, your experience of arriving at the airport for a flight probably involves scurrying from check-in to immigration, probably getting to the boarding gate just in time to board the aircraft.

I always say that I enjoy travelling, but flying … not so much, and I blame no one but myself. Nothing like experiencing the cold sweat and fear of almost missing your flight to start off your holiday on the wrong foot.

Now, I have a good reason not to wait till the last-minute to get myself checked in. Why? Because for The Shilla Duty Free’s first-year anniversary, they’ve launched a whole suite of luxurious spa and beauty services at The Shilla Beauty Loft, located in Changi Airport Terminal 3 – the first of its kind in the world. Chanel, Dior, La Prairie and SK-II have gotten in on the action, and here’s what you can expect.

4. Dior - 2

The Dior Beauty House is the first of its kind an an airport worldwide. Dior La Collection Privee, the exclusive line of Dior scents, will be available right here. Want something wholly unique? Then work with one of Dior’s Fragrance Specialists to explore your fragrance preferences and customise your very own signature scent. At this gorgeous space, you can also opt for skincare consultations using Dior’s cutting-edge skin analyser, and get pampered before your flight with a 10-minute flash makeup service, 15-minute hand massage, and 15-minute Dior Beauty Secrets facial.

Dior services are open to walk-in customers.

La Prairie

La Prairie

At the Luxury Skincare Bar by La Prairie, you’ll be treated like a queen (or king!) the moment you step into this warm and inviting space. Take the time to try and experience La Prairie’s products and enjoy complimentary light refreshments as you wait for your La Prairie Art of Perfection skincare ritual. Top-of-the-line signature products are used in each of these facial treatments that last up till 20 minutes. Each ritual begins with gentle cleansing, mask application, facial massage, foundation application and a spritz of one of La Prairie’s fragrances. While we found the list of available rituals comprehensive – there are options for brightening, firming, rejuvenating, and more –  you may also request for a customised facial treatment to target individual skincare needs.

Invitations to try La Prairie Art of Perfection skincare rituals are given to customers who shop at La Prairie counters in the airport. Invitations will also be given through exclusive partnerships like with SQ PPS Club.

8. SK-II - 1

Frequent flyers are probably all too familiar with the fact that spending prolonged amount of times in the airplane and dry skin out, causing it to look dull and feel rough. So why not pop into the SK-II Pitera Lounge for a quick fix before boarding your flight? There are 15-minute options (Express Pitera Boost, $30 for 15 mins), as well as hour-long “the works” treatments (Pitera Essential Facial, $95 for 45 mins) for those who have longer layovers. Each treatment features the use of the famed “miracle water”, SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, and experienced therapists will employ various massage techniques to ensure that skin is able to fully absorb the goodness of Pitera. We like how well they’ve managed to make use of the space, creating a warm and serene ambience that’s not unlike that of a full spa.

Prior booking for SK-II services is advised, and walk-ins will be subjected to availability.

The Chanel Beauty Lounge at The Shilla Beauty Loft was the only one that we did not get to experience when we visited during the media preview, but we were told that travellers will be able to choose from a menu of skincare, makeup and fragrance services specially tailored for them.

Access to the CHANEL Beauty Lounge is strictly by invitation only.

She may have been born and bred in Singapore, but Denise considers Chiang Mai her spiritual home and needs to make a yearly pilgrimage there to maintain her sanity. Competitive by nature, she enjoys combat sports and is currently obsessed with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which she picked up just under a year ago. To no one’s surprise, the country currently at the top of her travel bucket list is Brazil.
