4. Carne & Caipirinha
Sunset Lane, Blk 106 Clementi St 12
#01-50, S120106

Who would have thought you can find excellent Brazilian food in a HDB estate? This 74-seater restaurant features a Brazilian Churrascaria concept, in which meat is cooked churrasco (Portuguese for barbeque) style. Carne & Caipirinha offers one of the widest selection of meats, cooked over charcoal ($49.90 for an adult, $24 for a child aged five to 12). This restaurant was inspired by the culinary culture of Brazilian gauchos (cowboys), where various cuts of chicken, beef, lamb, pork and fish meat are barbequed over charcoal fire.

5. Buttercake N Cream Cafe
Sunset Lane, Blk 106 Clementi St 12
#01-52, S120106

We love a good cafe in the heartlands, and Buttercake N Cream is no exception. This tasty bistro is decorated so beautifully, you’d love hosting a garden-themed party in its alfresco dining area! Choose from the delectable mains in the cafe’s ala carte menu, or enjoy the daily set specials ($15.90 onwards). Make sure you try their desserts as well – the incredible lava cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream ($6) is one of our favourites!

6. Smokey’s BBQ
Sunset Lane, Blk 106 Clementi St 12
#01-54/56, S120106

Opened in 2013, this outlet on Sunset Lane is the second one in Singapore, the first being in Joo Chiat Place since 2009. This restaurant is owned and operated by Americans who stay true to the authentic American BBQ tradition. We loved the amazing buffalo wings with homemade blue cheese dressing, Smoked Beef Chili Nachos and US Prime Beef Brisket! Meats are smoked at low temperatures for long hours, using wood chips imported from US on their custom-built smokers, giving you tender meat bursting with smokey flavour.

7. Rocky’s Pizza

#01-58/60, S120106

Rocky’s Pizza is a pioneer in Sunset Way, having first opened in 1987, before moving to The Rail Mall on Upper Bukit Timah and back again to Sunset Way in 2007. This Italian pizzeria has many fans who keep coming back for the mouth-watering pizzas and calzonis they serve. Must-try creations include Rocky’s Mountain ($36.90 onwards), Mexican Sunrise ($27.70 onwards), and White Pizza ($25.00 onwards). #01-62, S120106

This coffee roasting studio and brew bar serves up fresh in-house roasted specialty grade coffees from all around the world! The Tiny Roaster started off as a home-roasting online store sourcing quality green coffees. They also host Home Roasting and Home Brewing Session in the studio, and showcase a range of Single Origin coffees roasted in-studio, as well as their versions of a brewed latte, or White Brews.

9. Megumi Japanese Restaurant
Sunset Lane, Blk 106 Clementi St 12

This restaurant has been in Sunset Lane since 2002, growing from a small restaurant to a favourite for lovers of Japanese cuisine. Expect lots of fresh sashimi and sushi rolls, as well as a range of Japanese cuisine, at affordable prices. Our favourite was the delicious UFO Maki ($12), filled with a surprise fish selected by the chef! The cosy ambience makes this restaurant perfect for a weekday meal in an authentic Japanese setting.

For as long as she can remember, Vanessa has always wanted to escape to a place where no one knows her. But because that’s not always possible, she often retreats into the world of books and pop culture. When she does get to travel, she prefers going off the beaten track and back to nature. Some of her best memories include napping in a treehouse in Laos and cycling across padi fields in Bali.

  1. Chin Huat Seafood. Aircon seafood, very popular to celebrities, civil servants and even company dinners. Private rooms are also available to be booked. Love the dishes, golden crab, kailan, steam garoupa slices, yam roll with chicken! Been around for ages, surprised that you missed that one.
